Default Advice on W/Mo build for pve

I have recently changed my secondary profession from w/e to w/mo
I am playing prophecies and am lvl20,ascended and a bit over half way through the game.
Using chaos axe + 30 Health with Shadow shield +29 Health
I will be doing some farming and chest runs also.
Looking for pve build where i can concentrate on healing/protecting myself until i get better at managing the(what appears to be) complicated monk skills.

I know that each situation is different but i would appreciate what you would think a good build would be for what i have described.

I have done a search on this, and although i have got some ideas, most reponsses tend to revolve around team members, where as i want to look after myself to begin with until i get a better handle on the whole w/mo thing.

And why would you think you have to "Get better" managing the complicated monk skills ? Are you a Warrior or a Monk?

I am a Warrior but am not all that familiar with the monk skills.
Not sure what each one does, what its best to use with etc etc.

Of course i will pick it up as i use them more

You'll find general wa/mo builds here or on guildwiki, farming builds can be found on the farming board or also on guildwiki.

Since you're unfamiliar with the monk skills you pretty much need to just try out different things to learn them, there's really no substitute for that first hand knowledge.

You might try running 2 enchantments and using all adrenaline and signets to see how that works - assuming you're in an area where enchantments aren't stripped off constantly.

Most of the time W/Mo only use 1-2 monk skills, sometimes just a res. Most of what you need is already available in the warrior profession.

Wammo's for me just mean a Warrior with Rebirth instead of Res Sig. Otherwise I wouldn't bother with them - a pure Warrior with no secondary skills is fine. Don't bother stacking Live Vicariously and Vigorous Spirit, because Healing Signet does that already and free's up a slot.

Remember:

Thanks for the help guys.

The more i look into it and with your advice also, i'm realising that the secondary profession is not as important as what i thought it was.
Of course its handy and you can adapt to different situations, but essentially you will prolly only use 1 or 2 skills max, of that second pro.

When i was w/e i really only used firestorm from the ele side and the rest was warrior skills.

The only monk skills I would reccomend you look as from the perspective of a warrior are as follows:

Live Vicariously (better than mending, but still subject to enchant stripping)
Rebirth
Purge Conditions (I reccomend this for condition removal)
Mend Condition (some prefer this skill. It has a slower cast and only removes one condition, but has a much faster recharge)
Healing Hands {E}

Some might reccomend Healing Breeze, but I would suggest you not take it in PvE since many monks will often cast that on you anyways. For PvP this may be legitamate in a few builds.

I would not use mend conditions. I would recommend Mend Ailment, because at least you can use that on yourself, Mend Conditions is used to remove one condition on someone else.

I like Vigorous Spirit over Live Vicariously. It costs the same, it has a slower recharge, I think it heals a bit less, but it doesn't suck up on your energy like Live Vicariously does (and it doesn't require you to actually hit something).

I like mending only if I'm running. If I want to fight, then Mending is not very useful.

Blinding really hurts anyone who relies on non-spells to attack (or touch skills). Removal of blinding is very good to have.

For W/Mo in PvE... hmm.... When I was W/Mo, I used the secondary for:

1) Hex removal - many PvE monks don't bring it, and Spiteful Spirit, Fainheartedness, Empathy, etc. can hurt you a lot.

2) Condition removal - again, I've seen few monks in PvE use condition removal (seriously, both Jamei's Gaze AND Heal Other, with NO Mend Ailment?), and Blindness is crippling to you, as a warrior. Try and watch where foe's Broadhead Arrows/Throw Dirts/Blinding Flashes are going, so you can remove (most importantly) Daze and Blind from allies.

3) Hard Res - Rebirth is my res of choice on a warrior - if things go awry, chances are you will be one of the survivors. And Rebirth kicks ass in party wipe situations.

And best of all...
4) Succor - A W/Mo's best friend, if you run mostly signet and adrenaline builds.

And all of the above require no attribute investment. So you can go 16 weapon/Tactics/Strength.... neat, huh?

I'd recommend to bring Remove Hex for hex removal. It has a 2 sec cast time, but since you're talking PvE that doesn't really matter.
Mend Aliment as well, for the reasons Stormord Alex stated.
Do Not Under Any Condition Use Mending. It's the most butt-sucking skill possible, and it's a mystery to me why all the wammo's use it.

I dont have a full build for you but try to incorporate Healing Hands and Healing Breeze into your build. I cannot even begin to tell you how clutch Healing Hands is, saved my life SO many times... HB would be for fighting off degen or just keeping your health up. And if you do plan on bringing a res skill go with Rebirth.

I'll offer you a well rounded build that i have found to be very good when i played pve warrior. here it goes

W/Mo
Lv 20
Sword 10 + 4
Strength 10 + 2
Healing 11


1. Sever Artery
2. Gash
3. Final Thrust
4. Mend Aliment
5. Remove Hex
6. Endure Pain
7. Healing Hands
8. Re-Birth

this is not a solo build but it takes into account that you might not have a decent monk healing you behind so it covers the area's of condition remover(no points in protection but its just more of a remover), hex removal, healing yourself, rezing dead party members, dam and conditions.

note for healing- use healing hands as a self heal. This will lastfor 10 seconds. Takes 25 secs recharge so you have 15 seconds before you can use it again. Use endure pain in this period as this lasts max 16 secs, perfect when edure pains about to run about, put healing hands on again if still not been healed by a monk or still fighting.

I know theres no points in rebirth and aliment, but you dont need em.

Healing Hands is a solo farming skill, or for IDS runs. Never bring it on a warrior in a normal group, for PvE or PvP. You are a warrior, not a monk. Warriors kill things, monks heal/prot. Your elite is your most valuable skill, and logically it should support the role you play in your group.

If you are playing a W/Mo in PvE, the only monk skill you need is Rebirth. Maybe condition or hex removal if your monks can't be trusted. Purge Signet would be all right if you don't have many energy skills. Other than that, take all warrior skills.

Sadly, Inspired/Reveal Hex doesn't pick that skill up. But otherwise, don't put much of anything past a mesmer once Nightfall comes out. Oh yeah, Signet of Illusion baby.
